RESURGENCE: Industrial water circularity: Reuse, resource recovery and energy efficiency for greener digitised EU processes
RESURGENCE, funded by the EU, transforms European industries with circular water systems and resource-efficient technologies across sectors like Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Steel, and urban water treatment. Through advanced methods, it recovers energy and valuable materials from waste, fostering sustainability and economic growth while seeding circularity hubs for long-term impact.

RESURGENCE, an EU-funded initiative, is set to revolutionize European industries by promoting circular water systems and efficient resource utilization. Through four diverse case studies spanning sectors like Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Steel, and urban water treatment, the project will deploy advanced technologies for water treatment and resource recovery.
Innovative solutions, including membranes, electrochemical processes, and hybrid biological systems, will be tested to recover energy and valuable feedstocks from industrial byproducts. Digital tools such as models for energy and water management, sensors, and decision-support systems will enhance operational efficiency.
With a consortium of 20 partners from 11 EU countries, along with international cooperation, RESURGENCE aims to deliver tangible benefits in sustainability and economics. Moreover, it plans to establish early-stage hubs for circularity, promoting the adoption of circular economy principles across industries.
