| Financial Framework: Horizon | Call: EDF-2022-LS-RA-SMERO |
| Budget: 3,851,027.10€ | Duration: 01/12/2023- 30/11/2026 |
The UTILE project aims to develop and demonstrate various technologies facilitating the implementation of circular strategies for recovering and reusing different types of soldier personal protection equipment (SPE) utilized by various European national armies. These technologies will be categorized into three groups: i) Digital tools enabling material flow tracking in the supply chain and supporting stakeholders in making informed decisions. ii) Technologies facilitating the upcycling of current SPE products through mechanical and chemical recycling, while also exploring new applications for the recovered materials in the defense sector. iii) Technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact during the manufacturing process by promoting the use of more sustainable and eco-friendly processes, including the replacement of petroleum-based materials with biobased alternatives.
