Senior Communications Systems Engineer

Description:

MIRIAD develops unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), electrically powered platforms, and modular mission architectures.

Main Responsibilities:

We are looking for a senior engineer specialized in embedded RF systems integration to lead the physical integration and validation of communications subsystems in a dual-use unmanned ground vehicle. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that RF links (SDR, LTE/5G, SATCOM) function correctly at the platform level, under real operating conditions and complex electromagnetic environments.

  • Physically integrate embedded RF subsystems (SDR radios, LTE/5G, SATCOM terminals).
  • Design and validate hardware interfaces between radios, antennas, power supply, and mission computer.
  • Perform initial commissioning and validation of communications systems on the UGV platform.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of RF cabling architecture and signal distribution.
  • Execute and analyze link tests in real environments (field, mobility, interference).
  • Support EMC/EMI test campaigns according to MIL-STD-461G.
  • Resolve integration issues (noise, losses, mismatches, grounding problems).
  • Coordinate with suppliers on the integration of COTS and military equipment.
  • Support system testing in compliance with project milestones.

Education and Requirements:

Education: Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering.

Technical knowledge: Solid knowledge of applied basic RF (impedances, losses, mismatch, filtering), antennas and propagation in real environments, and RF interfaces (coaxial, connectors, routing, grounding). Technical English for interaction with manufacturers and documentation.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in RF systems integration or embedded communications.
  • Hands-on experience integrating RF hardware on mobile platforms (vehicles, aircraft, or naval).
  • Experience solving EMC/EMI issues in real systems.
  • Experience integrating COTS or military communications equipment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in SDR from an integration standpoint.
  • Knowledge of mobile SATCOM or embedded terminals.
  • Experience with UGV/UAV platforms or critical systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810H / 461G environments.
  • Experience working with defense integrators and subcontractors.

Conditions:

  • Contract: Permanent, full-time
  • Vacation: 23 business days per year, flexible
  • Health insurance: Private, included from day one
  • Schedule: Flexible, Friday afternoons off
  • Training: Access to ongoing internal and external technical training
  • Location: Getafe offices
