Description:
Funditec Research – Digital is Funditec’s unit specializing in applied cybersecurity. It is seeking to hire a candidate to coordinate the research line focused on the convergence of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, developing innovative solutions for strategic sectors: connected industry, critical infrastructure, digital health, defense, media, renewable energy, smart transportation, financial services, and digital public administration.
Main Responsibilities:
- Scientific and technical leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams on high-impact R&D&I projects.
- Conceptualization and design of security architectures for distributed systems, edge/fog computing, and federated data platforms.
- Technical coordination within European consortia (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EDF) and preparation of proposals for national (AEI, CDTI) and international organizations.
- Institutional representation on technical committees and standardization bodies (ETSI, IEEE, ISO).
- Development of TRL 2–5 research solutions and technology transfer through publications, demonstrators, and collaboration agreements.
Education and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and/or AI Applied to Cybersecurity. A Ph.D. in related fields will be highly valued.
- Security architectures for distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native environments.
- AI security: adversarial robustness, privacy-preserving ML, federated learning, explainable AI.
- Emerging technologies: applied quantum computing, blockchain, zero-trust architectures.
- Platforms: Kubernetes, Istio, Apache Kafka, TensorFlow Extended, MLOps pipelines.
- Certified C1/C2 level English proficiency.
- Availability to travel to meetings with European partners and scientific events.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of research experience in applied cybersecurity and intelligent systems.
- At least 2 years in technical leadership roles.
- Demonstrable participation in competitive national/European projects as a principal investigator or technical coordinator.
